Sportsmanship, Encouragement and Club Spirit Awards
The Sportsmanship, Encouragement and Club Spirit awards can be nominated by anyone throughout the season. We encourage volunteers, age managers, athletes and spectators to make nominations direct to the committee. At the end of the season the committee vote on these awards at their discretion. (Please note these awards are subject to change).
Criteria for each award:
Sportmanship – a club member who has shown an act of kindness either at club nights or whilst representing the club. Someone who doesn’t give up and gives their all while competing even when things haven’t gone their way. A person who respects their competitors and has gracious behaviour in winning or losing.
Encouragement – A club member who is usually out-performed by the high achievers of their age group but still manages to try their best and stay positive and polite. It’s an award that acknowledges their effort and encourages them to keep up the great work.
Club Spirit – a club member that shows a positive attitude at club nights/events no matter what place they come. Someone who is always striving to do their best. A cheerful disposition and someone who upholds the Little Athletics / BLAC ethos of fun, fitness and friendship. A person who other club members and families respect.
Outstanding Achievement Award
Any athletes who achieves 5 personal bests in an individual event at centre level will receive an award.
Centre Records – Broken
Certificates will be issued to those who break Centre records. It is therefore important that times and measurements are correct. If they are not done correctly, it only penalises the children as it will be recorded as their PB and will be difficult for them to better so please ensure that all care be taken for the sake of the children.
All records broken are to be checked and authorised by a Committee member at the time of breaking.
Other Points
All participants that are required to miss a Club night in order to compete in a representative event such as: Regionals, State Multis etc, are eligible to receive their average weekly club night point score up until that week of the season (for State Multi they MUST compete in at least 50% of the events offered). For these points to be added, athletes MUSTY apply in writing to the committee – please note this is the Athletes responsibility.
Average Points
An athlete who cannot attend a club meet in order to compete in a representative Athletics meet such as: Regionals, State Combined, State or National Championships are eligible to receive their average weekly club points up until that week of the season (for State Combined the athlete MUST compete in at least 50% of the events offered). For these points to be included, the athlete or their parent/carer must apply in writing to the club before the end of the season- please note this is the athlete’s responsibility.
How are average points awarded?
The ‘Average Points’ points function in Results HQ will be used to provide the athlete their average result for a particular event. This function calculates the average results for each event up until that week. Where there is not an average available at that point, the season average will be used. Averages will be based on the number of club nights an athlete has actually attended, not the number that have been scheduled (i.e. if the club has scheduled 12 club nights but an athlete has only attended 10 of them and accumulated 160 points in that time, their average will be worked out by dividing 160 by 10, not 160 by 12). (Please note 18.0 to 18.5 receives 18, 18.6 – 19.0 receives 19, etc).
Tiny Tots Award
All Tiny tots receive an award at the end of the season to recognise their introduction, participation and commitment to athletics.
Service Awards
The committee are reviewing the introduction of a 5 and 10 year service award starting for the 2021/2022 season.
